Old School Valentine Gifts with a Twist: Reinventing Traditional Valentine Ideas this 2009

Valentine’s Day is not only a season of love and affection, but also a season of gifts and material presents. During this time you can find a lot of stores and companies displaying specially designed items which you can gift to your significant other, and they follow different styles and trends. However, there are times when you don’t want to experiment because your other half would not like your present, thus you tend to stick with the basics. If you are getting bored with the usual flowers and chocolates however, then you may as well check out these fancy alternatives:

Golden valentine flowers- when you believe that your love would last a lifetime, then valentine roses are the ideal gift you can give. These are real flowers dipped in melted gold, platinum and silver, and are thus preserved forever. Golden valentine roses are featured recently on Oprah, and are fast becoming bestsellers even weeks before Valentine’s Day.

Love contracts and certificates- rather than the usual valentine card, you may opt to come up with a special love contract and certificate, which declare the love between you and your partner. A lot of couples are starting to have these certificates made, and some even have these framed. The contracts and certificates tend to be sweeter and more commanding, as they symbolize the strength and bond between the lovers involved, and that they have sworn to love and care for each other until the end of time.

Valentine flowers can also come preserved in a different way. They can be molded in clear bottles and canisters and sprinkled with desiccant so that their freshness would be preserved. This is an old trick that works even at present, especially with couples who are more sentimental and value sweet nothings such as love letters, cards and old presents.

Message in a bottle- when valentine cards no longer do the trick for you, then it’s time to put your message in a bottle. There are specially-designed bottles which are on sale nowadays both in gift shops and in online stores in which you can place your love letter. This is a great alternative to cards, especially when you can relate to it (if you have watched the move “Message in a Bottle” then you would understand this kind of present).

Valentine flowers do not necessarily have to come in the form of roses in boxes or bouquets; they can come live as well. If you have a fancy for greens and life, then you can give your partner a small flowering plant that can be placed by the window sill. This helps in reminding your loved one that your love blossoms each day he/she wakes up, and will continue to prosper when taken cared of.

Finally, if your loved one is miles away and it costs a lot to send a valentine card, then you can settle for valentine e-cards! These e-cards are scattered across the net and are available in different designs. Thus with just a few clicks of the mouse and by typing a short message, you can easily send this card to your partner through e-mail, and he/she can receive it in a matter of seconds.
